TENNESSEE ESSENTIAL SERVICES DEPLOYS ETI SOFTWARE’S TRIAD TO
AUTOMATE PROVISIONING OF FIBER-TO-THE-PREMISE NETWORK AND VIDEO SERVICES
~ Triad Provides Simple,
Cost-Effective Provisioning of Services Over
FTTP Network as Utility Expands Services Offerings ~
NORCROSS, GA – March 27, 2006 – Bristol Tennessee Essential
Services (www.btes.net), a full-service utility provider for the
municipality of Bristol, has deployed Triad by ETI Software Solutions to
automate the provisioning of its fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) network and
digital television services. ETI (www.etisoftware.com)
is a leading developer of service activation software that automates
provisioning of FTTP, video, DSL, data and telephone technologies.
Bristol Tennessee Essential Services will roll out digital cable
television and broadband Internet services to more than 20,000 business
and residential customers over the next four years via its FTTP network.
“ETI’s Triad was a compelling choice to meet our provisioning requirements
as we expand our services beyond those traditionally delivered by a
utility,” says Dr. R. Michael Browder, General Manager of BTES. “With the
volume of subscribers we’re forecasting and the complexities of the
technologies we’re deploying, anything less than fully automated,
flow-through provisioning was a not an option. With Triad, we found a
solution that offers comprehensive support of all our technologies
out-of-the-box so our project risk was essentially eliminated.”
Triad provides comprehensive interface support to automate the complex
provisioning processes for BTES’s FTTP network. ETI’s Triad product
automates activation of all service ports on the Optical Network Terminal
(ONT), the termination point of the fiber network at the customer’s
service location. Offering more than just a simple provisioning interface,
ETI, through its extensive provisioning experience, has built a highly
sophisticated and feature-rich integration to the FTTP system, supporting
many advanced features. Examples include automatic software downloads,
dynamic switching between VLAN and Virtual Channel (based on card type),
alarm monitoring, and multi-LAN support. Through these powerful features, BTES is able to offer an unparalleled level of customer support. For
example, they can identify a power outage at a customer residence and take
proactive measures to correct the problem before the customer even calls.
Triad also supports activation of digital set-top boxes (D-STBs), even
further enhancing its value proposition and ROI. When new service orders
are taken, Triad is able to completely automate the provisioning not only
of the RF port on the ONT but also the D-STBs that reside behind it, so
all services are delivered consistently error-free and instantaneously,
greatly improving customer satisfaction. Additionally, Triad maintains
BTES’s pay-per-view (PPV) schedule, collects then downloads PPV purchases
to BTES’s billing system.
“Municipal utilities are in a unique position to deliver FTTH services to
under-serviced areas while enhancing their portfolio of product
offerings,” says Peter M. Pifer, Chief Executive Officer, ETI. “Triad
provides utilities such as BTES with an affordable automation tool that
enables them to quickly and effectively deliver new
services while
future-proofing their infrastructure for additional services.”
